Largest gathering at Jammu, Azad pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi
Describing Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi as the most glorious leader of present times, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Gandhian philosophy has crossed all the geographical precincts and has more relevance even in the modern world. He described Gandhi ji as a beacon light of hope for the world struggling with violence and forces of vehemence.
Mr. Azad was speaking to the mammoth gathering assembled on the inaugural session of two day long function organized by the Gandhi Global family on the martyr’s day of Mahatma Gandhi at Parade Grounds, here today.
Prominent among those who attended the mega event include, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council S. Arvinder S. Union Minister for Power Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde paid rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 63rd martyr day. He further said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have faced lot of hardships during turmoil adding that the people of the State always helped the State and Central Government in maintaining peace and tranquility in every nook and corner of the three regions. He said it is first Congress rally in his life where all sections of the society participated in large numbers.
Mr. Shinde apprised that the work on Kishan Ganga Hydel Power Project is under execution adding that the work on other mini and micro hydel power projects will be taken into hand. He said Centeral Government is planning to construct 1000 MVA Gas project at Pathankote for providing adequate electricity to the people of the State.
